As a multimedia artist focusing on digital collages, TYLER DEAUVEA expresses himself as a Black man having an experience in America, exploring growth and development.
His work is personal and stems from various physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. There are conveyances of dealings with faith, loneliness, and emotional maturity from his childhood to current, everyday life.
At times, he focuses on social issues that strike him, but the recurring visual themes naturally speak to society and its historical use of Black physical features in a wide array of spaces, in this context the work itself is inherently political. Creating is a meditative act for him, and he works to erase himself in the process
